Brown Panther will bypass Saturday's Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot in favour of a trip to France the following week.

The four-year-old was due to tackle the likes of Fame And Glory in the Ascot Group Three after an excellent effort when third in the Irish St Leger, but trainer Tom Dascombe has decided to go for Group One glory at Longchamp instead.

He tweeted: "After much deliberation we've decided Brown Panther goes straight for the Prix Royal-Oak at Longchamp 28 Oct, so won't run at Ascot this Sat."
