Although initially looking slightly disappointing when finishing sixth in the Christie's Foxhunter Chase at Cheltenham last month, Cloudy Lane was only 3 1/2-lengths behind the third Oscar Delta, who subsequently won at Fairyhouse on Tuesday, and he warrants plenty of respect having completed the National course in the past. However it is one of two C&D winners, GWANAKO, who looks the one to beat. Andy Stewart's 2008 Topham winner has looked as well as ever this season, winning both starts at Sandown, and James Cowley was onboard for the first of those emphatic victories. Multiple Grade 1 winner May Way De Solzen swept aside the useful Takeroc (who has won twice since) on his only previous start in this sphere at Hereford in March last year and another success between the flags 19 days ago will have just taken the edge off him, while Boxer Georg and the 2010 winner of this race Silver Adonis are others to consider.
