One of the decisions to make when registering as a new owner is whether to apply for a British Horseracing Authority invoice account or a Weatherbys Bank account. Licensed trainers must make a similar choice. New BHA accounts are settled each month by Direct Debit.
The BHA Accounts Team, based at Weatherbys, administers the invoice accounts for approximately 4,000 owners and trainers who have chosen this facility. Racing transactions such as entry and registration fees are automatically credited and debited, and a monthly invoice is sent to every account holder detailing their racing expenditure – and, even more importantly, any prize money won!
The team is also responsible for maintaining the BHA’s Forfeit List, a record of debtors who are prevented from participating further until their debt is cleared.
the BHA Accounts Team send out between 40,000-50,000 invoices per year?
