Numbering 213 breeze up two year olds and 91 horses in training, the sale takes place May 4th and 5th, with the two year olds breezing at Newmarket's Rowley Mile Racecourse on Thursday 4th May starting at 9.00am.

No less than 48 of the sires with two year olds catalogued have already sired Classic or Group 1 winners, including ACCLAMATION, CAPE CROSS, DARK ANGEL, EXCEED AND EXCEL. HELMET, HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR, IFFRAAJ, KODIAC, LAWMAN, LE HAVRE, LONHRO, LOPE DE VEGA, MASTERCRAFTSMAN, PIVOTAL, SHOWCASING and ZOFFANY. Top class overseas based sires also feature prominently, with proven Group/Grade 1 USA based sires ELUSIVE QUALITY, EXCHANGE RATE, MEDAGLIA D’ORO, MIZZEN MAST, SCAT DADDY, and STREET BOSS all well represented.

In addition there are 17 first crop sires with two year old catalogued including Group 1 winners ANIMAL KINGDOM, DABIRSIM, DAWN APPROACH, EPAULETTE, FARHH, HAVANA GOLD, LETHAL FORCE, MOST IMPROVED, SHANGHAI BOBBY and SOCIETY ROCK, as well as SWISS SPIRIT who is already off the mark with an impressive winner.

The Horses in Training section of the Guineas Sale has quickly established itself as a consistent source of high class performers and the 2017 renewal boasts Group and Listed performers as well as 17 lots with an official rating of 80 or higher. Those that look likely to attract plenty of attention include the Group 2 winner SPIRIT QUARTZ who won two Listed races in 2016, the Group 1 placed racemare DIANA LADY and the smart lightly raced Jamie Osborne trained four year old EVERY CHANCE, recent winner of his latest start off a mark of 90. Other eye-catchers include Ralph Beckett’s progressive winning 3 year old DR JULIUS NO, the consistent John Gosden trained winning three year SHAMROKH, the Ed Dunlop trained duo of DUTCH UNCLE and ZAMJAR, both of whom have already shown decent form in 2017 and the Joseph O’Brien trained five time winner SONG OF LOVE.

Owners and trainers also have the added incentive of more than 70 breeze up two year olds eligible for the Plus 10 Bonus Scheme, eight eligible for lucrative French Premiums, a further three entered for the 300,000 Euros Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Stakes, and two lots entered for the £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus and next year’s Swedish Classics respectively.

Commenting on the catalogue, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said: “The Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up and Horses in Training Sale enjoyed another successful year in 2016 with Group and Listed performers not only throughout Europe but also in North America and Dubai and this year’s catalogue has an abundance of quality two year olds in training as well as high class proven horses in training. Combining breeze up horses with older horses in training has consistently added an extra dimension to the Guineas Sale and this year's catalogue has all the ingredients to appeal to buyers from Britain, Ireland and further afield."

The full breeze will be shown live on Racing UK (Sky Channel 432 and Virgin Media Channel 536) at 9am on Thursday 4th May and catalogues will be available from Tattersalls and from all Tattersalls overseas representatives from Thursday 13th April.
