Outstanding returns at Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham April Sale
Yesterday's Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham Sale reaffirmed its position as the venue of choice for form HIT and pointers with 12 lots selling for £100,000 or more, and a total of five lots selling for £200,000 or more. Trade was headed by Global Citizen fetching £275,000 on an evening that saw the aggregate finishing on £3,000,500 (+94%) with an increased average of £85,729 (+89%) and growth in the median of +25% to £50,000.
The highlight of the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham April Sale came from Lot 29, Global Citizen (pictured), secured by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for £275,000. The five-year-old gelding, consigned by Ballycurragh Stables, comes from a family of highly rated track winners A Hare Breath and De Plotting Shed.
Brewin'upastorm (Lot 20A) and Mr Lingo (Lot 22) both proved appealing each realising £250,000. Brewin'upastorm, a four-year-old gelding, offered by Camas Park was knocked down to Ryan Mahon/Dan Skelton Racing. With Mr Lingo, an impressive eight length winner at Dromahane, purchased by Gordon Elliott Racing.
Evan Williams also made his presence felt at the sale this evening when purchasing Chooseyourweapon (Lot 19) and Tossapenny (Lot 30) for a total of £380,000.
At the conclusion of another remarkable sale, Director of Horses in Training Sales at Tattersalls Ireland, Richard Pugh commented: "We couldn't have anticipated more successful results tonight and these results reflect the fierce demand for point to pointers. We are delighted to see that every sale brings new buyers, but what is also evident is the familiar faces who are returning to the Cheltenham sale confident that they can secure a quality form horse."
