Warren Greatrex feels Missed Approach will be suited by the demands of Sandown when he runs in the bet365 Gold Cup next Saturday.
The eight-year-old is prominent in the betting for the big Grade Three handicap chase after he won the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival.
Greatrex told Racing UK: "He's done really well and came out of the race great.
"I just feel the jumping that you need to produce at Sandown will suit him.
"Everyone's gone to Ayr, Punchestown or Aintree, and I just felt it was worth waiting.
"That (Grand National) will be the plan next year, all being well."
