The Gold Cup is the Gold Cup and I've been lucky enough to win that, but the National is so hard to win."

"I was hoping and praying I was going to get there and in another stride I would have, that's racing. I'm lucky, I won it two years ago (Rule The World), but I never thought I'd got up. He probably did a bit too much, but I had to let him go after the Chair, he was going so well. Davy went by me and I knew I wasn't going to win the race to the Elbow, so I thought I'd fill him up and have one last crack at him."

"Going to Becher's second time I knew I wasn't going as well as some of the others. Going to the Elbow I was trying to get third and he just hasn't seen it out. It was a proper race and Tony (Martin) had him in fantastic shape for it."

From there it just stopped my fellow dead and I could never really get him back. Again he has not quite got home from the second-last. I was a little bit further back from last year to try something different, but it didn't quite work out."

"He jumped well and everything went well. The ground was not heavy enough for him. He is a slow horse and it was just too good. They didn't go very quick and I couldn't quicken with them. He jumped super and I got a great spin."

"Charlie (Deutsch) was a little bit sore on the landing side of Becher's, so they just decided to doll the fence off. So I just helped guide them and let them know as an experienced rider what was going on. He was jumping nicely and got into a lovely rhythm. I didn't think he was going too fast and we were going a nice steady pace, so I was happy where I was. He just over-jumped Becher's and knuckled on landing, but he was going really well up until then. Hopefully he will learn from that and come back next year bigger and stronger. I like the way he was jumping as he was making them feel very small. I think next year as a nine-year-old he will be better."
