ARQANA have announced today their association with the AQPS Shows of Decize and Le Lion d’Angers, which take place on August 26 and September 8, thanks to an innovative new partnernship resulting in a win-win situation.

ARQANA will offer the breeder of the overall Supreme Champion a prize equivalent to €1,000 which consists of:

  • A free entry for a foal, yearling or store destined for National Hunt racing in the Breeding Stock Sale 2016 or the Summer or Autumn Sale in 2017. The entry is given to the breeder, who may enter a horse of his choice from his own bloodstock.
  • Preparation and/or transport costs that make up to this amount.

If the winner declines this offer, the breeder of the second horse shall be chosen.

Over the last three years, the Summer and Autumn Sales organised by ARQANA have seen 100 AQPS breds (stores and horses in training) sell for over €5 million.

In 2015, the top price at the Autumn Sale was the AQPS CHIRICO VALLIS (pictured), sold for €355,000 to Horse Racing Advisory, and in 2013, the late ALLEZ COLOMBIERES was knocked down for €300,000.

Of the stores, during the latest edition of the Summer Sale, DUC DE BEAUCHENE by Saddler Maker went for €145,000, while EL SALVATOR, a son of Network out of Listed winner QUIZAS JOLIE made €120,000 to Jehan Bertran de Balanda. Overall, 88% of AQPS stores were sold for an average of €44,100.

ARQANA President Eric Hoyeau said of the partnership: “We are delighted to announce this new partnership with the AQPS Shows of Decize and Le Lion d’Angers. These associations show a wish to continue to valorise a breed that produce champions every year over jumps and that play a significant part in the success of French breeding abroad.

The AQPS breed is already an integral part of our National Hunt sales, and we’re delighted to be able to reinforce our contribution by offering breeders help towards selling in public, which is the best way to reunite the offer and demand.“
