Catalogues for Books 2, 3 and 4 of Tattersalls October Yearling Sale now online

The catalogues for Books 2, 3 and 4 of the 2019 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale are online now and can be viewed at www.tattersalls.com. Book 2 features 790 yearlings and will take place Monday 14th - Wednesday 16th October, Book 3 has 605 lots catalogued and will take place Thursday 17th and Friday 18th October, while Book 4 has a further 137 yearlings selling on the morning of Saturday 19th October.

This year’s October Book 2 star sprinters BATTAASH and TEN SOVEREIGNS, as well as impressive Group 2 and 3 winning two year olds MYSTERY POWER, TROPBEAU and WEST END GIRL, have all provided the best possible advertisements for Europe’s largest yearling sale and the 2018 catalogue features own or half brothers and sisters to an impressive 148 Group and Listed winners including the GOLDEN HORN half-brother to the brilliant, but ill-fated, SEA OF CLASS, the LOPE DE VEGA own brother to exciting first crop sire BELARDO and half-brothers to 2017 Melbourne Cup winner REKINDLING and star sprinter SLADE POWER. In addition there are 107 sons and daughters of Group and Listed winning mares catalogued.

 The sires index makes equally impressive reading with 33 of the current top 40 sires in Britain and Ireland all well represented including ACCLAMATION, AUSTRALIA, CAMELOT, DANSILI, DARK ANGEL, EXCEED AND EXCEL, FRANKEL, INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, KINGMAN, LOPE DE VEGA, NATHANIEL, NO NAY NEVER, PIVOTAL, SEA THE STARS and SHOWCASING.

Tally Ho Stud’s proven Group 1 sire KODIAC leads the way numerically with 49 yearlings catalogued. Proven Group 1 sires SHOWCASING, EXCEED AND EXCEL, ZOFFANY, IFFRAAJ and DARK ANGEL have 33, 31, 28, 24 and 22 yearlings catalogued respectively, while GLENEAGLES, GOLDEN HORN and NIGHT OF THUNDER, all already with first crop Group winners to their names, have 16, 18 and 13 yearlings catalogued from their second crops.
 
The current top three second season sires KINGMAN, NO NAY NEVER and AUSTRALIA have made an immediate impact at stud and between them they have more than 40 yearlings catalogued. In addition there are more than 20 first crop sires represented including Classic winners AWTAAD, HARZAND, NEW BAY and THE GURKHA.

Overseas based sires have always added an extra dimension to Book 2 of the October Yearling Sale and top French based sires DABIRSIM, KENDARGENT, LE HAVRE, SIYOUNI and WOOTTON BASSETT have 30 catalogued between them, with an additional 12 by exciting French based first crop sire SHALAA. USA based first crop sires AIR FORCE BLUE, FLINTSHIRE and VANCOUVER are joined by proven transatlantic Group 1 sires CANDY RIDE, ELUSIVE QUALITY, HARD SPUN, KITTEN’S JOY, LEMON DROP KID and STREET SENSE.

Book 3 of the 2019 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, which follows immediately after Book 2, takes place Thursday 17th and Friday 18th October and numbers 605 lots. Book 4 comprises an additional 137 lots and will take place on the morning of Saturday 19th October. All of the yearlings in Books 3 and 4 of the October Yearling Sale are eligible for the ever - popular £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes and the catalogues include yearlings by current top 30 sires ACCLAMATION, AUSTRALIA, BATED BREATH, CAMELOT, DARK ANGEL, DAWN APPROACH, EXCEED AND EXCEL, FARRH, IFFRAAJ, KODIAC, LOPE DE VEGA, MASTERCRAFTSMAN, NATHANIEL, OASIS DREAM, PIVOTAL, SHOWCASING, TEOFILO and ZOFFANY.
