Dodging Bullets was ridden for the first time since he suffered a minor setback as the champion chaser builds up towards the defence of his Cheltenham crown.

Bred by Frankie Dettori, the seven-year-old also landed the Tingle Creek and Clarence House Chase in a stellar season but he went lame following an autumnal schooling session which delayed his return to action.

Dodging Bullets has been on the walker for the past six weeks to build his core fitness and stepped things up a gear on Tuesday.

"It was nothing exciting, just that he had a saddle on his back for the first time," said trainer Paul Nicholls.

"He's been on the walker for the past six weeks but he was ridden.

"All that he did was go round the yard a few times but it was the first step."
