Nick Williams is hoping for plenty of rain at Ascot to aid the chances of Reve De Sivola winning a fourth JLT Long Walk Hurdle on Saturday week at Ascot.

Nick Williams is hoping for plenty of rain at Ascot to aid the chances of Reve De Sivola winning a fourth JLT Long Walk Hurdle on Saturday week at Ascot.

The mudlark turns 11 in a few weeks but showed he was no back number when running respectably in a Grade One in France behind Thousand Stars and his stablemate, Aubusson, in early November.

Williams feels his horses always thrive in December and having seen Tea For Two and Aubusson make winning chasing debuts in recent days, he can at least be confident his horses are in rude health.

"It's his race, he's come out of France in very good form and he's building towards it nicely," said Williams.

"What I would say is that it looks a much stronger version of the Long Walk this year, there appears to be more strength in depth, at this stage anyway.

"However, you can't beat horses for courses and he comes alive at this time of year and we hope it continues to rain."

The current market leaders are Saphir Du Rheu and Thistlecrack with the likes of Kilcooley, Dynaste and Deputy Dan still in the frame at this stage.
