Stallion Book Snippets: The quartet of four-year-olds are headed by Kurious, winner of the Group 3 Coral Charge in 2019 and fifth in the Nunthorpe in 2020. The half-sister to Group 1-winning sprinters Alpha Delphini and Tangerine Trees sold to Hillwood Stud for 900,000gns at the recent Tattersalls December Sale.

Kuroshio’s three other northern hemisphere stakes performers are Group 2 Vintage Stakes runner-up Dunkerron, Group 3 Premio Tudini second Siculi and Listed Marygate Stakes runner-up Daphinia.

The son of Exceed And Excel was the subject of a big pedigree update in recent times, too, when his Group 3-winning full-sister Believe’N’Succeed produced 2019 Derby hero Anthony Van Dyck.

Kuroshio spent his first year as a stallion in Europe at Overbury Stud but he has stood under the Compas Stallions banner for the last two years, when he covered more than 250 mares.

He will stand at Starfield Stud at a fee of €6,000 in 2021.
