Stallion Book Snippets: The Poule d’Essai des Pouliches hero, who turns 21 on January 1, has never enjoyed the largest representation on the racecourse due to fertility issues.
But that has not stopped him from shining with his progeny, and the Weatherbys Stallion Book records that he has supplied 341 winners of 1,167 races and more than £15 million in prize-money from 14 crops of racing age.
His earlier stars include Australian Group 1 victor Moriarty and Falmouth Stakes winner Nahoodh, plus Group 2 scorers Es Que Love, Gregorian, Laugh Out Loud, Shining Emerald and Tuttipaesi.
Clodovil’s 2018 crop, though small, could be his best vintage yet. Steel Bull won the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes and Tiger Tanaka landed the Group 3 Prix Francois Boutin and Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac.
Clodovil stands at Rathasker Stud at a fee of €5,000 in 2021.
