The Godolphin homebred is a son of the late, great Shamardal, who was by Giant’s Causeway out of Helsinki, Helen Street’s Listed-placed daughter by Machiavellian.
His dam is Antiquities, a Group 3-placed daughter of Kaldounevees and Historian, who in turn was a Listed-winning daughter of Pennekamp and Helen Street.
Victor Ludorum and Shamardal – both winners of the Poule d’Essai des Poulains – are not the only Darley sires to descend from Helen Street, who was bred by Ballymacoll Stud from their Derby winner Troy, in the maternal line.
Street Cry, the source of megastars Winx and Zenyatta, was by Machiavellian out of Helen Street, while Territories, sire of Prix de l’Opera winner and recent Arqana €3 million purchase Rougir, is by Invincible Spirit out of Helen Street’s great-granddaughter Taranto.
