Charbel booked his ticket for Cheltenham with an all-the-way win in the Sky Bet Supreme Scottish Trial Novices' Hurdle at Musselburgh.
Kim Bailey's five-year-old was an expensive purchase after showing smart form in Irish bumpers but had to settle for second on his previous two starts.
David Bass made sure it was a true test and though Barry Geraghty looked to be travelling well on Nicky Henderson's Brain Power, the 5-4 favourite, he found disappointingly little when the question was asked and Charbel came home 11 lengths clear.
Bass said: "He's always shown us plenty at home and as he stays very well we wanted to make it a test. All he's done is gallop them into the ground.
"He definitely deserves a place at Cheltenham but I wouldn't know which race. He's a very nice horse."
