Green light for Ffos Las fixture

This afternoon's high-profile meeting at Ffos Las goes ahead after passing a precautionary inspection.

Conditions at the Carmarthenshire circuit were described as heavy but raceable after 10 millimetres of rain overnight, but clerk of the course Keith Ottesen felt it prudent to check on conditions at 9am due to the threat of further rain.

Ottesen is pleased to have given the fixture the green light, but will continue to keep an eye the weather as the day progresses.

He said: "We've passed the inspection and we'll obviously be monitoring conditions.

"The track is very heavy, but it's raceable. We've spoken to trainers and jockeys and we're all keen to get racing on and see how we go.

"There are no more inspections planned, but we'll be keeping an eye on things, obviously."

The seven-race card features the Dribuild Ltd Welsh Champion Hurdle (2.05) and the Dribuild Construction West Wales National (3.15), with both races being shown live on Channel 4.
