Tuesday inspections called at Ludlow and Taunton

This week's meetings at Ludlow and Taunton are subject to inspections on Tuesday.

Ludlow's card on Wednesday must survive an 8am check and t he going at the Shropshire track is heavy after 44 millimetres of rain over Saturday and Sunday.

A further 8mm fell on Monday on top of already saturated ground, but the course is due some respite overnight.

Clerk of the course Simon Sherwood said: "We've taken a fair old battering since Saturday, a bit like Taunton and Ffos Las down the west of the country. We're not waterlogged but we're just saturated.

"The forecast says we should have had nearly all the rain and with a dry 48 hours we could become raceable again as we drain so well. We'll have a look in the morning. We may delay a decision until the afternoon but I anticipate a decision will definitely be made tomorrow."

Taunton is reported to be heavy, waterlogged in places following 75 millimetres of rain over the weekend and officials will assess conditions at 2pm to see if they can press ahead with Thursday's fixture.

However, the card at Limerick on Wednesday has already gone due to a waterlogged track.

The going was described as soft to heavy with heavy patches but with more rain forecast, an early decision was taken after a course inspection.

A tweet from Horse Racing Ireland read: "Limerick cancelled on Wednesday, 10th February due to waterlogging and an adverse weather forecast."
