Weatherbys Private Bank has launched a photography competition, offering young amateur photographers across the UK the chance to have their work admired by an expert panel and displayed at a private exhibition in London.

Entrants to the competition, which opened this week, will submit a portfolio of a minimum of 10 photographs. Entries will reflect the Weatherbys strapline: “The future has always been family”.

The competition, which is designed to support the next generation of photographers, is part of the bank’s efforts to use its focus on family to inspire young people to develop their artistic talents.

When the competition closes on Thursday 16 March 2017, the photographs will be reviewed by a panel of expert judges, giving entrants the chance to have their photographs viewed by some of the most experienced names in their respective fields.

The judging panel will review every entry, then shortlist 20 finalists’ entries before selecting the winner and two runners up and these will be announced in April 2017.

The winner will also be awarded a state of the art Nikon D5500 digital camera, complete with lenses, with which they can take their photography skills to the next level — and will have their work featured in the May edition of the Weatherbys Private Bank magazine.

Johnny Weatherby, Company Chairman, said: “Weatherbys has been in business for seven generations and family involvement has always been at our heart. We are delighted to give aspiring young photographers the chance to use their creative skills to interpret the importance of family.

“I wish all our entrants the best of luck and look forward to seeing their photographs in March.”

The competition is open to amateur photographers in the UK between the ages of 16 and 25. In addition to the exclusive exhibition event and state of the art camera, the winner’s photographs will also be used as part of a national advertising campaign for the bank.

The deadline for submitting entries is 5pm on Thursday 16 March 2017. Anyone wishing to enter will need to complete an entry form, which can be requested at [email protected]. Once this has been submitted, entrants will receive further instructions on how to submit their photos.

Update: The deadline for entries has been extended to 5pm on Friday 18th August 2017.  Click here to download the Entry Form and Terms & Conditions
