Wild West Wind aiming to bounce back for Tom George at Haydock

Tom George believes a heavy fall in the Welsh National has had no lasting effect on Wild West Wind ahead of the Betfred Grand National Trial at Haydock on Saturday.,

The lightly-raced nine-year-old appeared to be going well at the head of affairs at Chepstow when he came crashing down at the 12th fence.

With Blaklion set to carry top weight this weekend, Wild West Wind will run off 10st 9lb and George is hoping to get back on track at the Merseyside venue.

He said: "It's the plan to go to Haydock this weekend.

"It was very uncharacteristic what happened, he's done plenty of schooling since and has always been a very good jumper. Touch wood, it hasn't left his mark on him.

"He was tanking and everything was in his favour, but there we are, these things happen and hopefully we can put that behind us this weekend."
