Churchill Colt Tops Opening Day Of Goffs February Sale

A colt by dual Guineas winner Churchill from the Mangan family's Riverview Farm topped the weanling trade on Day 1 of the Goffs February Sale, when the first foal out of a daughter of the Ribblesdale Stakes winner Silkwood, Lot 183, sold to Glenvale Stud for €82,000.

A well-related daughter of Profitable from Nanallac Stud (Lot 64) was the top priced filly of the day when the sister to Listed winner Cape Factor, as well as Court House who was second in the Listed Winter Derby Trial Stakes three days ago, sold for €75,000 to Margaret O’Toole. 

Other highlights from Day 1 included a Kodiac colt out of a sister to Group 2 winner Centennial and the Listed winning Siren’s Song from Phoenixtown Stud that sold to Yeomanstown Stud for €58,000 (Lot 146), Belmont Stud’s Ribchester colt (Lot 253) that sold to BBA Ireland for €54,000, and a daughter of Australia out of a sister to Grade 1 Northern Dancer Turf winner Forte Dei Marmi (Lot 98) consigned by Olive O’Connor Bloodstock that was knocked down MP Bloodstock at €52,000.
