John Ryan's Draycott Place primed for Dan Moore return

Trainer John Ryan reports Draycott Place in "tremendous form" ahead of his return to action in Sunday's Underwriting Exchange Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse.

The seven-year-old enjoyed a successful end to the last campaign, winning at Limerick and Tramore, but has not been seen since in competitive action since the latter of those victories last April.

He makes his comeback in a competitive heat run in ultra-testing conditions, but Ryan is in confident mood.

"He's in flying form and is going there fresh and well," said the trainer.

"I'd say it's the first time in a long time he's had a proper break and he's come back in tremendous form - he's in some order.

"We haven't had any hold-ups with him. He just got very fat during his break and it took us a long time to get him fit, but he's ready to go now.

"He would probably prefer a bit better ground, but he's a top-class horse and we have a top-class rider in young Donagh Meyler, who's taking 5lb off his back.

"There are some good horses in the race, but a lot of them are maybe on the way down, whereas our lad is on the way up, hopefully."

Sandra Hughes is double-handed, with JP McManus-owned course and distance winner Nearly Nama'd joined by stable companion Guitar Pete.

Hughes said: " I'm happy with them both and of the two of them, I would say Nearly Nama'd will be better suited to what will be very testing ground.

"He won well there last time and hopefully conditions won't bother him too much.

"Guitar Pete is in good form as well, so fingers crossed they both run good races."

Mouse Morris is looking forward to seeing one-time Arkle runner-up Baily Green make his first start since failing to fire in last summer's Galway Plate.

He said: " He's well and he's happy and seems in good form at home.

"The ground would be his problem. He has won on it before, but not against the calibre of competition he's facing here.

"The handicapper has given him a chance, so we're hoping for the best."
