The Elie de Brignac complex will hold the fourth edition of the v.2 Yearling Sale on Wednesday, August 17, the day after the August Sale. Last year’s edition returned very positive figures with an average of €33,922, up 26% in comparison to 2013, the first year of the auction.

Race results that confirm the objective of v.2
On the racecourse, yearlings bought at v.2. have confirmed the idea and objective behind the sale; speed and precocity. Of those sold in 2014 and that ran as juveniles last year, three quarters have collected prize money and 17 have won.

These include Siyouni’s very talented daughter TRIXIA, who was bought for €85,000 from Haras du Logis and was unbeaten last season. Her wins included the Listed Criterium de Lyon and the Prix des Reservoirs (Gr.3) where she beat JEMAYEL who has since gone on to win the Prix Saint-Alary (Gr.1).

Of those that went under the hammer last season at v.2., this year’s two-year-old generation is currently dominated by CLEM FANDANGO, a daughter of Elzaam consigned by Haras du Lieu des Champs that was bought for €11,000 by Federico Barberini for Middleham Park Racing.

In four starts to date she has won and been placed three times including finishing fourth in the Queen Mary Stakes (Gr.2) at Royal Ascot last time where she finished behind the impressive LADY AURELIA and Al Shaqab Racing’s Al Johrah.

A catalogue with choice and diversity
This year’s catalogue, available on www.arqana.com, offers 128 yearlings with profiles of beginning their racing careers as two-year-olds. With only one exception, all of these yearlings have been born and raised in France or are assimilated “FR”. From next year these are eligible to have their winnings increased by 64% in France due to the owners’ premiums system.

The colts and fillies catalogued will be consigned by 42 different studs, all based in France. This diversity of vendors shows the large variety of choice open to prospective purchasers. The biggest consignment is Haras de Grandcamp, that will send 13 yearlings through the ring, followed by Haras des Granges (10), and Haras des Capucines (9).

Pedigrees with speed and precocity
The v.2 catalogue is particularly rich with yearlings by stallions that have shown their aptitude at producing two year olds such as ELUSIVE CITY, KENDARGENT, LE HAVRE, MYBOYCHARLIE, POWER, RAJSAMAN, RIO DE LA PLATA, SIYOUNI, WOOTTON BASSETT ZANZIBARI and ZOFFANY.

The sale will also enable prospective purchasers to see and buy the first crops of sires that have shown speed and precocity including DABIRSIM, DECLARATION OF WAR, GEORGE VANCOUVER, LETHAL FORCE, MAYSON and PENNY’S PICNIC.

Of the pedigrees in the catalogue, there are several close relatives to group and listed winners, including:
