Half-sister to Beckford heads to Doncaster Premier Sale

The catalogue for the 2017 Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale at Doncaster will feature entries by most of Europe’s leading sires and siblings to top class performers including the unbeaten 2yo BECKFORD who won Saturday’s Group 2 Railway Stakes at the Curragh.

To be offered by Baroda and Colbinstown Studs, the filly is from the first crop by the Champion European Sprinter and four-time Group 1 winner Mukhadram who stands at Shadwell Stud. Beckford, a graduate of the Goffs Orby Sale who is unbeaten in two starts, holds entries for the Group 1 Keenland Phoenix Stakes on 13 August and the Group 1 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes on 10 September.

Other sires with entries in the Premier Sale include Frankel who sired 18 winners from his first crop of 2yos, Bated Breath – sire of Beckford, Dark Angel, Dawn Approach, Dutch Art, Exceed And Excel, Holy Roman Emperor, Iffraaj who has sired three Group 1 winners in 2017 including the top rated Goffs graduate Ribchester, Invincible Spirit, Kodiac, Lope de Vega, Mastercraftsman, Oasis Dream, Showcasing, Zoffany etc.

International stallions also feature in the entries with leading French sires Kendargent, Le Havre and Siyouni represented. American based stallion No Nay Never, a son of Scat Daddy who sired four Royal Ascot winners this year, has a number of entries, while former shuttle sire Starspangledbanner, who sired the sale topper in 2013, will also have a yearling in the sale which was bred in Australia to Northern Hemisphere time.

Following in the hoof prints of Premier Sale graduates such as Acclamation, Dark Angel, Wootton Bassett etc., fellow sale graduates Olympic Glory and Slade Power will have yearlings from their first crops offered in August. Both racehorses of the highest calibre, Olympic Glory was one of the leading milers of his generation winning four races at Group 1 level including the Champions Stakes, while Slade Power completed the coveted Royal Ascot Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes – Group 1 Darley July Cup double.

Premier Sale graduate Excelebration is also represented and sired his first Group 1 winner in a timely fashion with Barney Roy, also a Premier graduate, winning the Group 1 St James’ Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

Catalogues for the Goffs UK Premier & Silver Yearling Sales at Doncaster will be released online and mailed out on Wednesday 2 August.
