The first group of selected entries for the second annual Goffs UK Goodwood Sale, which will be held at the ‘Glorious’ Qatar Goodwood Festival on Wednesday 31 July, are now available to view online.
To be held in the winners enclosure immediately after racing on the £1 million Qatar Sussex Stakes day, the boutique sale currently has five horses entered – all of which are in training in the UK and America. Further entries will be selected in the build-up to the sale and the five initial lots are listed below.
Lots with entries in the Qatar Goodwood Festival will be announced once confirmed. Subject to conditions, Goffs UK in conjunction with the BHA, will arrange immediate change of ownership for any horses racing in the days following the sale.
Nate The Great (3YO C by Nathaniel)
A dual winner who placed third in the L. Derby Trial in May and most recently a third in the Gr.3 Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket, earning him a BHA flat rating of 100. He is out of a Dubawi half-sister to the Gr.2 winner and Gr.1 placed young sire JAMES GARFIELD.
Red Armada (3YO C by Invincible Spirit)
Winner of his last two starts, most recently a Class 3 Handicap at Ascot, earning him a BHA flat rating of 89. From a black-type family, he is out of the Stakes winning mare ALUMNI, is a half-brother to the Stakes winning and multiple Group placed DUX SCHOLAR and is from the family of the Gr.1 winner PERSUASIVE.
Little Kim (3YO F by Garswood)
Winner of the Gr.3 Prix du Bois last season as a 2YO and sold in foal to Showcasing. She is out of the Stakes winner PRIMO LADY and is a half-sister to the Stakes winner and Royal Ascot Gr.2 Queen Mary Stakes placed mare OUT OF THE FLAMES.
Holy Legal (7YO M by Holy Roman Emperor)
Champion Sprinter in Uruguay in 2017/18 and the winner of 13 of her 27 career starts – seven of which have come at Group or Listed level. She is out of the Stakes winning and Gr.1 placed mare HORA LEGAL and is a half-sister to Stakes winners EL DEMOLIDOR and WHERE'S THE DRINK. Currently racing in America, she has placed third on her last two starts at Arlington Park.
Hurcle (2YO C by Exceed And Excel)
Winner of his only start, a Class 3 over five-furlongs at Newcastle. He is out of the black-type mare Switcher who won her 2YO debut before placing twice at Gr.3 level and a further three times at Listed level.
