Goffs Land Rover Sale opened with a day of vibrant trade that was headed by a trio of six figure lots. Topping the bill was Aiden Murphy’s purchase of a three year old son of Flemensfirth (Lot 12) for €110,000.
The gelding was consigned by Kilmoney Cottage Stud, a vendor that has enjoyed great success with their Land Rover Sale horses, most recently at this year’s Cheltenham Festival with Grade 1 Supreme Novices Hurdle winner Altior who they sold at the 2013 Land Rover Sale to Highflyer Bloodstock for €60,000.
Joseph O’Brien made headlines with his four-timer training debut yesterday and was a very prominent purchaser at today’s Land Rover, accounting for one of the day’s highlights in Lot 56, a Yeats gelding from Ballincurrig House Stud that was bought for €100,000. Also making €100,000 was another son of Flemensfirth from Landscape Stud (Lot 81) that was purchased by Margaret O’Toole. The three year old is an own brother to O O Seven who was placed second in both the Grade 1 Tolworth Novices Hurdle at Sandown and Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown this year.
