Additional Royal Ascot entries and Breeze-Ups confirmed for Goffs London Sale in association with QIPCO

The fifth annual Goffs London Sale in association with QIPCO will see 30 lots go under the hammer on Monday evening in the stunning grounds of Kensington Palace Gardens. The catalogue features 24 horses in training, most of whom hold entries at Royal Ascot, alongside three elite broodmares and three breeze up two-year-olds.

The wild card additions to the horses in training include Rockin Roy, victorious on his racecourse debut last month for the in-form Archie Watson and is a likely runner in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes on the final day of Royal Ascot.  Another late entry is Shine So Bright, by July Cup and Nunthorpe Stakes winner Oasis Dream, this colt was a winner on his debut last Sunday at Nottingham and is now being targeted by trainer Karl Burke at the Coventry Stakes on Tuesday.

Country Rose by Bungle Inthejungle is another interesting prospect who made all to win over five furlongs for trainer Ron Harris at Lingfield Park this month, and his likely target is the Queen Mary Stakes, the Group 2 opener on Wednesday.  The Johnny Murtagh-trained filly Yolo Again, by Royal Ascot winner Toronado, was successful at Navan earlier this month and completes the Horses In Training entries.  Her aim is the Queen Mary Stakes.

The first three lots to go through the ring will be two-year-old breezers comprising of a colt by the popular sire Acclamation, a filly by Distorted Humour and another colt by Violence.  Video footage and times for each of the three breezing at Kempton Park will be available for potential buyers to view online at www.goffs.com from Saturday.  The three breezers will be available for inspection at the London Sale venue in Kensington Palace Gardens on Monday.

Henry Beeby, Group Chief Executive of Goffs, said:

“We are very pleased with the depth and strength of the catalogue ahead of Monday with a record number of horses-in-training entries that could run at the Royal Meeting. The three select breeze-up two-year-olds reintroduce that dimension to the sale and should appeal to a range of buyers, while the very select breeding stock complete the elite catalogue.

“Goffs London Sale is the perfect curtain raiser to Royal Ascot and since its inception in 2014 has grown in popularity and attracted significant new investment into the British and Irish bloodstock industry.  We are hopeful for a strong renewal as we celebrate its fifth year”.

Prospective purchasers of horses in training with Royal Ascot entries must ensure that they are registered owners in a recognised racing jurisdiction in order for the BHA to facilitate a change of ownership and allow a horse to run at Royal Ascot under new ownership.
