Frankel colt amongst 140 catalogued for Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up

The catalogue for the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up, which takes place Monday 11 April – Wednesday 13 April, is available from Tattersalls now and can also be viewed online at www.tattersalls.com.

140 high-class two year olds have been catalogued for Europe’s premier sale of two year olds in training, which has produced an impressive 56 Group and Listed performers since 2013 including dual Australian Group 1 winner CONTRIBUTER. Last year’s Craven Breeze Up Sale also boasts a 47% winners to runners ratio, higher than any other European breeze up sale, and the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte winner DONJUAN TRIUMPHANT.

The catalogue features the first colt by the Champion racehorse FRANKEL to be sold at a European breeze up sale. The colt is out of the Grade 1 placed mare NOAH’S ARK, already the dam of four winners including the French Listed winner TEMPS AU TEMPS and the multiple Group 3 placed AFTER.

In total the catalogue features own or half brothers and sisters to 33 Group and Listed winners including the INVINCIBLE SPIRIT half-brother to the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary second EPIC LOVE, the EXCEED AND EXCEL half-sister to the German 1,000 Guineas winner MI EMMA, the PIVOTAL half-brother to the Group 1 Coronation Stakes and Group 1 1,000 Guineas runner-up STARSCOPE, the EXCEED AND EXCEL half-sister to the Group 2 Richmond Stakes and Group 2 July Stakes winner PROLIFIC and the DRAGON PULSE half-sister to KHELEYF’S SILVER, the dam of Group 1 winner TIGGY WIGGY who sold for 2,100,00 guineas at last year’s December Mares Sale.

In total 12 of last year’s top 15 active leading sires of two year olds in Britain and Ireland are well represented including DARK ANGEL, INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, KODIAC, SHAMARDAL, SHOWCASING and ZOFFANY. Leading USA based sires also feature prominently including proven Group 1 sires ARCH, CONGRATS, ELUSIVE QUALITY, EXCHANGE RATE, HARD SPUN, HARLAN’S HOLIDAY, KITTEN’S JOY, MAJESTIC WARRIOR, MIZZEN MAST, MORE THAN READY, QUALITY ROAD and the ill-fated SCAT DADDY.

Seventeen exciting sires with their first crop of two year olds are represented, with British and Irish based youngsters BATED BREATH, BORN TO SEA, CASAMENTO, DRAGON PULSE, EXCELEBRATION, FOXWEDGE, FRANKEL, HARBOUR WATCH, HELMET, JUKEBOX JURY, MAYSON, NATHANIEL, POWER, REQUINTO and SEPOY joined by their USA based contemporaries ALGORITHMS and THE FACTOR, a Grade 1 winning son of WAR FRONT.

The largest consignment comes from Con Marnane’s Bansha House Stables with eleven juveniles catalogues with Irish counterparts Tally Ho Stud next best with 9 two-year-olds respectively. Mocklershill, who have sold the sale-topper at each of the last two renewals of this sale, have eight lots catalogued. The largest British based team comes from another previous sale - topping consignor, Malcolm Bastard, who brings six two year olds to the sale.

Buyers looking to benefit from a number of enticing incentives will be well catered for with two lots signed up to the all new £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus, four 300,000 Euros Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Stakes entries and 62 which are Plus 10 qualified. In addition there are five two year olds qualified for French Owners’ Premiums.

The ‘breeze’ for the Craven Breeze Up Sale will take place at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse on Monday 11th April starting at 9.00am, and the sale will take place on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th April, after the conclusion of racing on the first two days of Newmarket’s three day Craven Meeting.
