Nominations for Tattersalls Ireland’s market leading Derby Sale close on Friday 18th March, coinciding with the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Last year’s sale saw the best price achieved for a National Hunt horse at any store sale since 2011 when Lakefield Farm’s Robin des Champs gelding was sold to Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins for €320,000. This was not the only highlight witnessed at the sale; sixteen horses fetched €100,000 or more, the median rose 6% on 2014 figures to €36,000 and a market leading average of €42,893 was recorded.

The introduction of Part II of the Derby Sale proved a resounding success with 82% of the 152 horses offered for sale changing ownership. An impressive median of €14,000 and an average of €15,669 in the first year gave the sale a strong benchmark to enhance it further making it another attractive option for vendors to sell their horse at Tattersalls Ireland.

Over 100 UK based clients purchased at the 2015 Derby Sale and Part II, and in excess of 160 Irish based clients also participated during those three days. Tattersalls Ireland continues to look for new and innovative ways to promote and develop its existing client base and will continue to make every effort to ensure that the Derby Sale remains the incomparable market leader.
