A £62,000+ average and a £220,000 top price at the Spring HIT Sale’s Select Supplementary Session capped off a big 2016 Point-to-Point & Bumper Sale Season for the Goffs Group at Aintree, Punchestown and Doncaster.

The Spring HIT Sale earlier this month saw 24 horses sell in the Select Supplementary Session, a new initiative launched this year which saw selected Point-to-Point and Bumper horses with recent form offered in a dedicated session. Turnover topped £1.3 million and saw four horses achieve six figure sums including Espoir de Teillee who sold to Roger Brookhouse for £220,000, the highest price at any comparable sale in May.

April’s inaugural Goffs UK Aintree Sale at the Grand National Festival achieved the highest price for a Point-to-Pointer this year with Samcro selling to Gordon Elliott for £335,000. A huge success in its opening year, the sale sold 21 horses for over £2.1 million at an average of over £103,000. Of the 21 horses sold, six were purchased for over £100,000 with three in excess of £200,000.

Following on from Aintree, the Goffs Punchestown Sale is now firmly established on the sale calendar, having celebrated its sixth year in 2016, and it continues to be a leading outlet for Point-to-Pointers. April’s sale realised over €1 million in turnover and saw three horses sell for €100,000 or more including Getabird who was purchased by Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins for €200,000.

Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby commented:

“2016 has seen the Goffs Group take a huge step forward with regards to our NH Sales, especially the sale of young Point-to-Point and Bumper horses. The Goffs UK Sales in Aintree and the Select Supplementary Session at the Spring HIT Sale in Doncaster achieved over £3.5 million in turnover and saw 10 horses sell for £100,000 or more. Including the Punchestown Sale, the Group’s turnover for these sales in 2016 has topped £4.2 million with 13 horses selling for six figure sums.

“In England, Goffs UK saw only three Point-to-Point and Bumper horses sell for over £100,000 in 2015 so to have that grow to ten in one year, with four selling for over £200,000 and a top price of £335,000, which is the highest Pointer ever sold behind Presenting Forever who was sold by DBS for £370,000 in 2008, is a huge result.

“We have a dedicated team on both sides of the Irish Sea who have worked extremely hard over the last 12 months to build on our service in this specialist area and to see the results we have achieved in just one year is very pleasing. These three sales have generated strong buying benches featuring almost every major NH buyer and the result has been some wonderful prices for consignors. Looking forward, with the established Punchestown Sale along with the new Aintree Sale and a revamped Spring Sale, we hope that we can use the results achieved this year to generate more support and growth in the next 12 months, and I want to take this opportunity to thank every vendor for giving us an opportunity to work for them.”
