Published yesterday, the 2nd annual Sunday Times Heathrow SME Export Track 100 league table ranks Britain’s private small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) with the fastest-growing international sales.

Weatherbys, a new entrant to the table, are one of six companies headquartered in the East Midlands that feature and have made a strong contribution to the local economy. Over the past two years Weatherbys has grown its annual international sales by 37% to reach £6.3 million in 2014.

The league table reflects the importance of Europe to Britain’s SME exporters, with 80 of the companies selling to the continent, the most popular market, followed by North America (71) and Asia (45).

Graham Ayres, Managing Director of Weatherbys Limited, said: “We are absolutely delighted that the progress in our Irish DNA Laboratory, and the hard work of our specialist scientific team has been recognised by this prestigious report. Weatherbys is a family business which always aims to provide the best possible customer service and our team have managed to combine real advances in laboratory processing techniques with excellent customer care, to win new business in an incredibly competitive international environment.”
