Ante-post favourite Happily is one of 15 fillies declared for the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday.

Aidan O’Brien’s charge was a dual Group One-winning juvenile, landing the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh before beating the boys in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Chantilly.

She disappointed at the Breeders’ Cup on her final start of 2017, but heads the market as O’Brien bids to claim the first fillies’ Classic of the year for the third successive season – and a fifth time overall.

The Ballydoyle handler also saddles the well-fancied I Can Fly, Sarrocchi and Sizzling.

Godolphin trainer Charlie Appleby fires a formidable twin assault with the supplemented Soliloquy joined by stablemate Wild Illusion.

Jockey William Buick has elected to ride impressive Nell Gwyn scorer Soliloquy over Wild Illusion, who was last seen landing the Prix Marcel Boussac at Chantilly on October 1.

Buick told At The Races: “They’re two lovely fillies, so it was a hard pick between the two of them.

“Wild Illusion is obviously a Group One winner already, so she has the class edge, as far as we know at this stage.

“Soliloquy has always been a very nice filly. She developed well over the winter and won the Nell Gwyn well.

“Both fillies are taking on good opposition but I think they’ll both run very well.

“It’s great for the team to go into a Classic with two live chances.”

James Doyle will partner Wild Illusion, just as he did on each of her three starts last season.

Other contenders include Karl Burke’s Fillies’ Mile heroine Laurens, the Mick Channon-trained Fred Darling victor Dan’s Dream and Anna Nerium, the Free Handicap winner for Richard Hannon.

Nell Gwyn runner-up Altyn Orda, trained by Roger Varian and ridden by Frankie Dettori, has also been declared.
