Charlie Hills maps out Temple target for Battaash

Charlie Hills is targeting Haydock’s Temple Stakes on May 26 with Battaash.

The four-year-old was beaten just once in five starts last season, finishing fourth behind Marsha in the Nunthorpe at York.

However, he showed that was not his true form in no uncertain terms when beating that rival to win the Prix de l’Abbaye by four lengths.

“I’m hoping to run him in the Temple Stakes, so we’ve got just under a month until then,” Hills told At The Races.

“He’s starting faster bits of work this week and we’re all on target for there.

“He was a little slow to come in his coat, but his weight is very good and he’s actually grown an inch and a half over the winter which is encouraging, so it will be nice to get him back on the racecourse.”
