Goffs Champions Sale in association with Brown Thomas will take place at 1.30pm on Saturday at Leopardstown and is the opening event of Irish Champions Weekend.

Goffs will offer four lots, three of which are black type performers and the other an impressive Maiden winner.

The star of the show is likely to be Madam Dancealot, winner of the prestigious Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes last Thursday at Salisbury.  Previously winner of a competitive Newbury Maiden, this two year old daughter of Sir Prancealot has top class form and looks to be an exciting international racing prospect.

Bloodstock agent Luke Lillingston purchased Madam Dancealot for £100,000 at this year’s Goffs London Sale on behalf of owner Olivia Hoare and commented “It was always the plan to sell Madam Dancealot this year and the Goffs Champions Sale is the perfect platform to showcase a filly of this calibre. By the leading first season sire Sir Prancealot and out of a Danehill mare, ex a Slip Anchor mare, she is proven at Group 3 level and looks a filly who will only keep improving”.  Trainer Joe Tuite described the filly as “very straightforward and genuine to train, and loves fast ground” and having improved all season thinks her capable of much more over 7 furlongs.  Tom Queally who rode Madam Dancealot on her last two starts echoed this sentiment, describing her as “honest, tough and classy”.

The other filly in the sale is the Jim Bolger trained Siamsaiocht, an own sister to Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Parish Hall.  The three year old by Teofilo is a winner and was runner up in a Listed race at Dundalk behind subsequent Group 1 Breeders Cup winner Hit It A Bomb.

The two colts are Grand Coalition, a two year old son of Kodiac trained by Johnny Murtagh who was Listed placed last week following his fourth place finish in the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes, and the two year old Forrest Prince from the Patrick Prendergast stable.  Forrest Prince gave an impressive front running performance to win a Gowran Maiden last week on his second start.

The horses have all been pre-vetted and veterinary information is available from Goffs, contact +353 45 886600 or email [email protected].  All horses will be available for inspection from 12.30 in the saddling box area at Leopardstown racecourse.  Race footage and pedigrees are available online at www.goffs.com.

Ahead of the Champions Sale, Goffs Chief Executive Henry Beeby commented:

“This year’s Champions catalogue is smaller than previous years, however we have stuck to our original selection criteria for this sale which is to catalogue only highly rated proven performers with international potential.  Indeed, Goffs Champions Sale is the epitome of quality over quantity and we are very pleased with the standard of horses on offer.

Goffs Champions Sale is about showcasing a select number of top class Horses In Training to international buyers in Ireland for Irish Champions Weekend.  It is also about opening up the auction process to a wider audience and what better place than centre stage at Leopardstown to kick off Irish Champions Weekend on the right note”.
