ID Passport Application
Since 28th February 2005 it has been a legal requirement for all equidae to be issued with a passport. Weatherbys ID Passports is an authorised Passport Issuing Organisation providing passports for animals of unknown or unverified pedigree. If a horse already has a passport it is illegal to apply for another passport. Please note the ID Passport Service is NOT a racing or breeding register.
The cost of an ID Passport is £26.00 and discounts are available for multiple applications. In order to apply for an ID Passport, please download, complete and return the form below.
The fast-track service for correctly completed applications is guaranteed within 2 working days under normal circumstances, however external influences such as postal strikes may delay the return of the passport.
Please Note: Under the Horse Passport Regulations 2009 (England), applications for equine passports can only be accepted for microchipped animals.
Change of Ownership
It is a requirement under the Horse Passport (England) Legislation to register a change of ownership with the relevant Passport Issuing Organisation (PIO) within 30 days of acquiring a horse. For animals with Weatherbys ID Passports or British Horse Database Passports please download, complete and return the form below with the horse’s passport and the required fee.
In order to apply for a duplicate ID passport if the original is lost please download, complete and return the form below with the indicated fee.
Change of Details
In order to make any amendments to the horse’s passport, e.g. change of address, change of horse colour, gelding notification, etc. please return the passport to us with an accompanying letter detailing the required amendment and the fee of £6.80.
Notification of Deceased Equines
It is an EU requirement to advise the relevant Passport Issuing Organisation (PIO) when your horse dies and return the passport to them. As per the legislation, the passport will be recorded as "void". If you wish the passport to be returned to you, please indicate this in an accompanying letter, including your full postal return details. Please note that the date of death will need to be provided. Weatherbys' passports for horses that are deceased should be returned to: Weatherbys ID Passports, Sanders Road, Wellingborough, Northants NN8 4BX. There is no charge for this service.
