Prize money

Everyone loves to win, and the feeling is infectious.

Your horse has just won or has been placed in a race. So, what happens next?

You don’t need to worry as Weatherbys take care of this process; something we do for around 9,000 races each year.

Collection and payment of prize money – or the “Stakesbook” process as it is still known – is one of Weatherbys’ oldest core functions, dating back 245 years to the founder of the firm, James Weatherby.

The Stakesbook Team ensures that owners’ entry fees, as well as racecourse and Levy Board contributions to prize money, are collected and distributed to successful connections of the winning and placed horses in accordance with the Rules of Racing.

Prize money is usually credited to Weatherbys Bank/BHA accounts fifteen days after the race, once the mandatory drug tests are completed.
