Carlisle and Fakenham face inspections

racing

The National Hunt meetings at Carlisle and Fakenham on Wednesday are under threat due to the inclement weather.

An inspection has been called at Carlisle for 3pm on Tuesday after half an inch of snow fell on already heavy ground on Monday.

Tale-offs, landings and shaded areas have been covered by frost sheets but a forecast of -3C on Tuesday night leaves them in a tricky situation.

The outlook is a little better at Fakenham who will inspect at 7am on Wednesday.

Frost sheets have also been applied on the take-offs and landings but a covering of snow has been forecast overnight.

The ground is currently described as heavy, soft in the back straight up to the open ditch.

In Ireland Fairyhouse are monitoring the situation as there is currently a light covering of snow on the track.
