Carlisle forced to abandon Wednesday card

Wednesday's meeting at Carlisle has been abandoned due to snow and a frozen track.

Officials report the course, and the frost sheets, to be under half an inch of snow.

The weather forecast offered no hope of a quick thaw, with a frost of around minus 3C expected for Tuesday night.

Fakenham's card is also under threat and they will inspect at 7am.

Frost sheets have been applied on the take-offs and landings but a covering of snow has been forecast overnight.

The ground is currently described as heavy, soft in the back straight up to the open ditch.

Ludlow's meeting must survive an 8am inspection.

Temperatures could drop to as low as minus 5C in Shropshire, with a light dusting of snow also possible.

As the morning goes on, there is the chance temperatures could reach 3C post 10am.
