Saeed bin Suroor feels a step back up in trip will benefit dual Group One winner Thunder Snow in round two of the Al Maktoum Challenge at Meydan on Thursday.

After finishing second behind Heavy Metal in round one over a mile, the Newmarket handler is confident the extra furlong and a half can help the four-year-old exact his revenge.

Bin Suroor said: "Thunder Snow has been doing well since his first run of the year in round one and the step up in trip will suit. He is in good form, has been working well and is ready to go."

The trainer added: "We have a good record in this race and have won it with some very good horses, including subsequent winners of the Dubai World Cup."

Winter Lightning, who is a half-sister to Thunder Snow, will bid to make two wins from as many starts this year when racing over a mile for the first time in the Listed UAE 1000 Guineas.

The daughter of Shamardal went one better than on her debut at Newmarket in October when she claimed last month's 1000 Guineas trial over seven furlongs.

Bin Suroor told www.godolphin.com: "Winter Lightning won the trial on her first start this season and has done well since.

"She is similar to Thunder Snow in that she is always relaxed and nothing bothers her.

"There are some nice fillies in the race, but we are looking for another good result."
