Warren Greatrex targets Haydock with gallant Newbury runner-up Mulcahys Hill

Mulcahys Hill has the Albert Bartlett Prestige Novices' Hurdle at Haydock as his next aim after his near-miss at Newbury.

Warren Greatrex's youngster attempted to make all and went down fighting behind Poetic Rhythm in the Grade One Challow Novices' Hurdle and will be dropping marginally in class on February 17.

"I would say the next race is the Prestige Novices' Hurdle at Haydock which The Worlds End won last year. Max McNeil owns that one and he owns half of Mulcahys Hill," said Greatrex.

"Stepping up in trip will definitely help him and he doesn't mind bad ground. He has been given a rating of 147, so he is bang up there with the better ones. He does handle bad ground very well, so I think that will be the next place we go to.

"He has got a good cruising speed and his biggest asset is his jumping. He is extremely tough and stays very well.

"It was frustrating he got beaten, but I think it was more greenness more than anything else, as he was looking around going to the last but then he picked up again and nearly got up.

"I thought he would run a good race and he proved me right."
