Jockey John Kington and trainer Julia Brooke were found in breach of the rules concerning schooling on a racecourse by the stewards at Doncaster on Friday.

Kington was hit with a 14-day suspension (December 11-22 and 26-27) and Brooke a £3,000 fine after the local officials deemed Spifer to have been tenderly ridden throughout when fifth to Holly Bush Henry in the Massarellas 'Mister Softee' Novices' Hurdle (Div I).

The horse, who was beaten more than 22 lengths, was suspended from running in any race for 40 days from December 2 to January 10.

Amateur David Noonan also fell victim to the stewards as he picked up a seven-day ban (December 13, 15, 17, 21 and January 1, 8 and 13) for using his whip above the permitted level when second on Chase End Charlie in the bumper.
