This year's champion Flat apprentice is one of 10 contenders for the much-coveted prize.
The top three, chosen by an expert panel, will be named on the BBC's children's television programme Blue Peter on December 10.
The overall winner will then be announced live on December 20, when Belfast hosts Sports Personality of the Year 2015.
The other nine hopefuls are: Brinn Bevan (gymnastics), Sam Curran (cricket), Ellie Downie (gymnastics), Sophie Hahn (para-athletics), Tulla Kearney (para-swimming), Morgan Lake (athletics), Matthew Lee (diving), Molly Summerhayes (freestyle skiing) and Rebekah Tiler (weightlifting).
