Goffs November Sale opened with a flourish as the first day of the foal sale returned significant increases in aggregate (+ 38%), average (+15%) and median (+13%) over the equivalent session last year (Day 3 in 2016).
Leading the way was Highpark’s son of No Nay Never out of Dacio (Lot 238 - pictured) that sold to Powerstown Stud for €85,000. Ballyphilip Stud purchased the next highest priced foal of the day when going to €80,000 for a colt by Tamayuz from the family of the Grade 1 winning Luas Line, consigned by Ringfort Stud (Lot 81).
Norelands Stud’s colt by Cable Bay, the first foal out of a daughter of Group 2 winner French Bid (Lot 221), was knocked down for €75,000 to Tally Ho Stud who also secured a son of Camelot from Ryebridge Stud (Lot 191) for €68,000. Another highlight of today’s trade was a colt by Raven’s Pass out of a half-sister to Group 1 Prix Jean Prat winner Olden Times (Lot 183). Consigned by Sandra Russell, the foal was knocked down to Darley Japan for €66,000.
Part 1 of the November Foal Sale continues today and Wednesday. This will be followed by the November Breeding Stock Sale on Thursday and Friday, with Part 2 of the Foal Sale taking place on Saturday and Sunday. The sale begins at 10am each day.
