Patrick in frame for July meeting

Tue, 12 June 2012

Sir Patrick Moore could run next at Newmarket's July meeting after a profitable trip to France.

The Harry Dunlop-trained two-year-old followed up a Newbury debut success by winning the Prix Amber Rama at Compiegne.

Another journey across the Channel is possible, although Dunlop will also consider the July Stakes and the Superlative Stakes at Headquarters.

"He won first time out at Newbury and he's by Astronomer Royal (stallion based in France). I bought him basically to come back to France to try to win some premiums and some prize money as well," Dunlop told At The Races.

"Christophe (Soumillon) gave him a lovely ride. He virtually made the running throughout. There is a little bit of a hill to the finish and he timed it to stretch the rest of the field and won going away by two and a half lengths.

"I bought this horse to win some French premiums, which is 75% on top of the prize money. He's won about 30,000 euros, so it's profitable to come out here, but we'd very much like to run him in England as well if we can.

"There's a Listed race at Longchamp in the beginning of July or alternatively we might look at the July Stakes or the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket. It's very much open. We've achieved our goal of coming here to win."
