This afternoon's meeting at Warwick has been abandoned.

Clerk of the course Sulekha Varma had planned to inspect the track at 8am after reporting the course to be only just raceable on Wednesday evening. However, further rain overnight has resulted in false patches of ground, forcing Varma to make an earlier call.

"We had another 1.5 millimetres of rain overnight and that just left some areas of false ground, particularly at the end of the back straight. It's not safe to race, so we have called off the meeting," she said.

"We don't race again until August 21 now, so hopefully the weather will have improved by then as that's our fourth abandonment this year which is less then helpful."
