Given heeds Frankie's advice

Jadanna will attempt to follow quickly in the footsteps of Maureen and grab her own piece of Group race glory in Tuesday's bet365 Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

James Given's filly finished third in Newmarket's Cherry Hinton Stakes earlier this month, just over a length behind the Richard Hannon-trained Maureen, who went on to a cosy success in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot over the weekend.

On the advice of Frankie Dettori, Given has dropped Jadanna back to five furlongs, a distance over which she was fifth in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and won the Hilary Needler Stakes at Beverley.

"Maureen has obviously forwarded our case and she came out of Newmarket very well - she has had a perfect preparation and hasn't missed a single day's work since then," said Given.

"She did a nice breeze last week and I think she was last off the bridle in the Cherry Hinton, although the ground was much different that day. Frankie's last words as he got off her was 'run her in the Molecomb and I'll ride her for you'. So we've gone with what he said."

A big danger will be Roger Varian's powerful chestnut Morawij, who was fourth in the Norfolk Stakes at the Royal meeting before surging to a Listed victory at Sandown.

The Newmarket trainer told www.varianstable.com: "Morawij has done nothing wrong so far and has been training nicely at home. On paper he looks to have a decent chance and we are hopeful of a good performance from him."

Hannon has won the Molecomb in two of the last three years with sharp sorts Monsieur Chevalier and Zebedee and he fields two runners here.

Richard Hughes has picked Lyric Ace despite being fairly well beaten on his last two outings, with Ryan Moore taking the mount on recent Sandown maiden winner Dominate.

"Lyric Ace scoped bad after disappointing at Royal Ascot, but he then ran well in the Super Sprint at Newbury considering the ground and draw were against him, while Dominate won an above-average maiden at Sandown last time and is all speed, so should be suited by this track," the trainer told his website.
