A host of familiar names have been given an entry in the BMW Caulfield Cup on October 20.
Traditionally a stepping-stone to the Melbourne Cup, the mile-and-a-half handicap has attracted 222 entries with 25 international possibles, including the Luca Cumani-trained trio of Mount Athos, Ibicenco and Quest For Peace.
Roger Varian's recent York winner Sri Putra, Melbourne Cup first and second Dunaden and Red Cadeaux, Beaten Up, Brown Panther, Planteur and Americain also feature.
Dermot Weld, twice the winning trainer of the Melbourne Cup, has entered the Moyglare Stud-owned filly Sapphire with further Irish interest added through the Willie Mullins-trained dual Royal Ascot winner Simenon.
John Gosden has entered Gatewood and Camborne, Andrew Balding has put in Dreamspeed, Richard Fahey could run Glen's Diamond while the James Fanshawe-trained Dandino is another with the engagement.
