Race Verdict

KNIGHTLY ESCAPADE appeared to benefit from the step up to this trip when scoring gamely on his handicap debut at Goodwood last time out in October and, open to plenty of further improvement, he is fancied to defy a 4lb rise in the ratings. Covert Decree and Carinya are both on hat-trick missions having finished off last season in tremendous form, but it is recent Kempton scorer Shalambar who looks the biggest danger to John Dunlop's 4-y-o.

Selection: Knightly Escapade        Danger: Shalambar        Alternative: Covert Decree
