Race Verdict

THE WEATHERMAN can land the opener. Donald McCain's charge showed a liking for the County Durham track when scoring readily over C&D in December (second, third and eighth have clocked up five victories between them since) and jumping errors cost him all chance at Doncaster last time. Providing he jumps for Nick Slatter today, it's difficult to see anything beating him. Andy Vic and Wilde Pastures may be left to fight out minor honours.

Selection: The Weatherman        Danger: Andy Vic        Alternative: Wilde Pastures
