Race Verdict

Meringue Pie merits plenty of respect for champion trainer Richard Hannon and jockey Ryan Moore, but his pedigree is less enticing than REGAL DAN's, who is a half-brother to precocious juvenile Star Rover and out of a Brocklesby winner. Charles Hills' runner ticks plenty of boxes and gets the vote. Lea Valley Black struggled for pace on his debut at Kempton but may benefit from that experience.

Selection: Regal Dan        Danger: Meringue Pie        Alternative: Lea Valley Black
