Race Verdict

Australia Day has dropped to a tasty mark and would be dangerous if granted a soft lead but, with Wayward Glance in the field, that is far from certain, and COMMUNICATOR, who has kept good company when finishing in and around the places in two competitive Epsom handicaps this term, is preferred. William Buick and Hans Adielsson combine to provide a live contender in the shape of Sand Skier, while there could be more to come from Mataaleb, who gained a deserved victory over 1m6f at Wolverhampton latest.

Selection: Communicator        Danger: Sand Skier        Alternative: Mataaleb
